Crooked Lake - Lake Wales

Short trip to Orlando

Crooked Lake is located in south-central Florida, just 20 minutes to Lake Wales and a hour from both Tampa and Orlando's prominent theme parks. Highway 17 and I-27 are both easily accessible for travelers.

Interesting fact, the body of water was classified as an "Outstanding Florida Water" by the state in 1987 and is currently listed on the top 10 most outstanding Florida Freshwater Lakes.

Nature-Made Beauty

Crooked Lake covers 4,274 acres, with a maximum depth of 45 feet and an average depth of 13 feet.

It is one of the largest lakes in Polk County both in terms of surface area and total volume. The lake is fed by six or more springs, the deepest of which has a depth of 60 feet.

The South West Florida Water Management District manages the lake and protects water resources.

Lake Activities Abound

Crooked Lake Prairie is a refreshing excursion with many trails on an open, airy, pine forest for visitors to enjoy. One trail leads to a point where you are 215 feet above sea level and are able to catch a spectacular view of Crooked Lake.

Just minutes away is Lake Wales Ridge State Forest for more outdoors activities that include hiking, camping and enjoying Florida's wildlife.

The city of Lake Wales is also just 18 minutes away with popular activities to enjoy. Bok Tower Garden is one of the many popular destinations among visitors. The garden is home to Pinewood Estate, a Mediterranean style 20-room mansion built in the 1930s and a 205-foot Singing Tower.

Fun and Fishing

Crooked Lake is popular among anglers and is abundant with sport fish like largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and catfish. The body of water has produced several bass over 16 pounds.

A public boat ramp is available one mile off U.S. 27 on S.R. 630-A at Keene Park Rd.
