As a city-lake, Lake Fayetteville is conveniently located near many stores, hotels, restaurants, and attractions that will make it easy to enjoy life on the lake and still have the downtown-feel.
If needed, the North Hills Medical Center or the Springdale Airport is nearby. Or, travel just under two hours to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Saint Francis Medical Center or Tulsa International Airport.
Lake Fayetteville covers 194 acres of water and includes 458 acres of surrounding land. The lake was established in 1949 to supply the city with drinking water. Within the next 10 years, they found a new water source, and the lake began to be used for recreational purposes.
Lake Fayetteville is a "no wake" zone making it a safe, relaxing place to enjoy the water in a pontoon boat, small fishing boat, kayak, canoe, or paddleboat. Bring your own or rent one from the dam site on the north side of the lake. You can also rent a bike and a pull-behind cab if you wish to take the kids along. Bike the 5.5-mile nature trail or the 4.3-mile hardtop trail around the lake to enjoy the lake's views, natural foliage, and local wildlife.
The lake is home to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks that attracts over 88,000 visitors a year. It has 12 beautiful individually-themed gardens and the only native butterfly house in the country. You can challenge the family to a game of disc golf at the scenic North Shore Disc Golf Course that includes 18 holes, some being so close to the lake that it is a great challenge.
The Locomotion Family Fun Park sits just west of the lake. It is an exciting location offering go-karts, bumper boats, two 18-hole miniature golf courses, laser tag, an arcade, and a selection of food.
People of all ages have fun at Altitude, a trampoline park including a variety of trampolines, foam pits, high jumps, a kiddie jump area, a dodgeball pit, and concessions. Practice your golf game at the Springfield Country Club or Paradise Valley Athletic Club home to 18-hole courses.
